Feb Blog Contest Winner

We have our February Blog Contest winner!

Congratulation to Carol D. from Mesa, AZ. She has shared her story of "Keeping the peace with little ones"!

Here is our family’s story of how a rule has been changed in Marbles & Jokers to be better suited for our playing situation:

We have been playing Marbles & Jokers for multiple years, and over the last couple of years have bought three or four of the 8-player sets from Wizard Woodworks to give to our kid's families, as well as to have an additional set for our own use. To us, the Mardi Gras Sets are the best, since players don't lose track of where they are going.

Because our family is so competitive, and grandchildren were ganging up on their siblings by using the Joker to send someone back to their starting point so much. We changed the rules so that the Joker is a "free-trip". A player that plays a Joker can move any one of his marbles to the entrance into Home.

This has made the grandkids start thinking of the different strategies that can be used, and has stopped the fights and tears from younger siblings who were always losing. In fact, our daughter's youngest son (who is only 8) is the best player in their house now, since he thinks ahead and doesn't automatically play the Joker as soon as he gets it. He really amazes his Momma and Daddy!

Your games are quality games--very sturdy for kids to play with, and the marbles sit really well in the holes. This is also important when playing with elderly parents who may have problems with finger dexterity, which we do.The instructions are clear and understandable, and we really like the pouch the marbles come in and the box that stores everything away. We will be ordering more sets from Wizard Woodworks, since they are a better set than other company's we have seen on the net or even in stores.

Keep up the good work!
Carol D.

Thank you Carol for sharing how you've adapted the rules for the little ones to play! It's so important to teach children the value of both winning and losing, while keeping it fun at the same time. Great idea!

Carol has won a $75 Wizard Woodworks Gift Certificate that can be used towards a future game purchase. Be sure to keep sending in your pictures and stories, and we'll pick a new winner each month. You could be our next $75 winner for March!

Send us an Email or via our Contact Page and title it "Blog Contest" along with any pictures you may have and we'll consider it for our next blog!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Denise and Ron
