The object of Michigan Rummy is to play your high-scoring payout cards and collect the winnings on the board.
Michigan Rummy is played with a standard deck of playing cards and poker chips or coins. Players ante in chips or coins in each of the nine compartments on the board, including the "Poker Pool" and "Kitty". Cards are played in a sequence similar to Rummy, starting with the lowest card in your hand. Play moves to any player who has the next card in that suit and continues until no plays are left. The play then moves to another suit. The object of the game is to discard all of your cards while collecting the payout compartments. But just because you're holding a payout card doesn't mean you'll win it. If uncollected, the payout remains on the board. The first player to discard all his cards wins all the chips in the Kitty!
